The project is in the final design phase. The Phase I Advanced Construction Letting is expected in December 2026, marking an exciting milestone for the project. Phase I, scheduled for 2027-2028, includes embankment work on both sides of the river to allow settlement to begin early while providing space for contractor staging and continued geotechnical exploration. Phase II Bridge Replacement, including construction of the main bridge span, is anticipated to begin in 2029.  

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) and Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) are committed to keeping the community informed as this project moves forward.
